Michael L. Brummitt, MD, FAAO, was raised in Florence, Alabama, graduating from Bradshaw High School as a Mark of Excellence recipient. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Birmingham Southern College before finishing medical school at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine under a full scholarship.
Dr. Brummitt completed his surgical/transitional intern year at Caraway Methodist Hospital and his ophthalmic residency at the Eye Foundation and University of Alabama in Birmingham Combined Program of Ophthalmology. During his residency, he received the honor of being appointed Chief Resident of the ophthalmology program.
Dr. Brummitt and his wife have two sons. He is a board-certified member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. His outside interests include playing the piano, an occasional round of golf and spending time with his family.
